Trivitt Bells Ring for 22Days.ca
For 22 Days the Historical Thomas Trivitt bells tolled at noon for a period of 15 minutes each day. Each tolling of ‘Big Thom’, our largest bell, signified a Canadian indigenous woman who has been reported as either missing or murdered in the last few years.
Trivitt Memorial joined Anglican churches from coast to coast who rang or tolled church bells in order to raise awareness of issues of social justice and solidarity with our indigenous brothers and sisters across Canada. This period of time also marked the conclusion of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Canada that has been reviewing the atrocities of the Residential School system in Canada and the celebration of National Aboriginal Day in Canada.
